Composer Pouneh Nahavandi has been working in Stuttgart since graduating from the University of Tehran classical music course as a guitarist in 2010. Since then she has worked on many projects for a wide variety of artists and ensembles and she has worked as an actress in some featured movies. Pouneh has also been working as a composer on various theatre projects and movies.
She expressed her desire to compose for Cinema early 20s, but she made her decision after listening to John Williams’s scores.
She started her career with working on a lot of theater projects, which allowed her to understand the importance of dramaturgy and how to adapt carefully his music to actor’s performances.
In Jun 2011, Pouneh had the honour of being a member of 30Voices, most successful Iranian women in the word in Los Angles, USA.
Her approach to film composition is not only based on her strong musicality, but also on her understanding of Cinema as an actress, which allows her to intimately communicate with directors.
She is currently working toward an M.A. degree in Scoring for Film and Visual Media at Pulse College Dublin.
